What you will learn

By the end of the course, learners will be able to…
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of a first aider, including scene assessment and personal safety
  • Conduct a primary survey (DRABC) and manage an unconscious casualty, including the recovery position
  • Deliver CPR for adults, children, and infants, and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely
  • Manage casualties suffering from (Choking, Seizures)
  • Control external bleeding, recognise and treat shock, and manage minor injuries (cuts, grazes, minor burns)
  • Perform a secondary survey and gather patient history; manage fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains using immobilisation and slings
  • Recognise and manage (Head, spinal, and chest injuries, Serious burns and scalds, Eye injuries, Poisoning)
  • Respond to major illnesses (Heart attack, Angina, Cardiac arrest, Stroke/FAST, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Diabetes, Fainting)
  • Participate in multi-casualty response scenarios and maintain accurate incident reporting (RIDDOR) and practical assessments
