The Life-Threatening Bleeds course is a short, practical programme designed to equip learners with the skills and confidence to control severe bleeding in an emergency.Uncontrolled bleeding is one of the biggest preventable causes of death following an accident or trauma. Course teaches the use of direct pressure, wound packing, haemostatic dressings, and tourniquets to manage catastrophic bleeds effectively.

What you will learn

By the end of the course, learners will be able to…
  • Recognise the difference between minor and life-threatening bleeding
  • Apply direct pressure and dressings to control bleeding effectively
  • Perform wound packing using gauze and haemostatic agents
  • Apply and manage a tourniquet correctly and safely
  • Monitor a casualty for signs of shock and deterioration
  • Recognise when advanced medical help is required and act accordingly
